How did our Prickly Pear Oil come to life?

At BEAUTYPRO, every product starts with a spark of inspiration. Our latest innovation, the Prickly Pear Facial Oil, is no exception. We wanted to dive into the journey behind this nourishing, antioxidant packed oil, from concept to shelf. 

To get the inside scoop, we sat down with our NPD (New Product Development) team to explore the creative process, the challenges, and the science that brought Prickly Pear oil to life. From selecting the finest ingredients to blending them into a luxurious, results-driven formula, our team shares the story of how a simple seed from the Sahara Desert became a skincare must-have.

What is the process for bringing a product from an idea to life?
Bringing a new product to life at BEAUTYPRO is a collaborative, multi-stage process that ensures every innovation we launch is thoughtfully developed and truly beneficial for our customers. It begins with consumer insight and market research and understanding what our customers want, spotting emerging trends, and identifying gaps in our range. From there, we move into concept development, creating a clear brief for the type of product we want to make and the results it should deliver.

Once we have a concept we’re excited about, we collaborate closely with our trusted factories and suppliers to create early lab samples. These go through multiple rounds of internal testing, where we refine everything from the ingredient blend to the product texture and aroma. Only when we are confident the formula performs to our high standards do we move on to packaging development, safety testing, and regulatory compliance before finalising the product for launch.

How have you ensured that our formula is the best it can be, what testing processes does it go through?
Quality and efficacy are at the heart of everything we do. The Prickly Pear Facial Oil has gone through multiple stages of testing before launch:

• Internal panel testing with our team and our external testing panel.
• Stability and compatibility testing to ensure the formula maintains its integrity and effectiveness over time and in its final packaging.
• Safety assessments and CPSR compliance, which are required under UK and EU cosmetics regulations, guaranteeing the product is safe for use.

Only after passing all these steps do we sign off on the formula, so you can trust that what you’re getting is both safe and effective.

What is it about Prickly Pear that made you think it was the next big thing for BEAUTYPRO?

Prickly Pear has been gaining attention as a potent, nutrient-rich ingredient in the skincare world, and we knew it was the perfect fit for BEAUTYPRO. It’s naturally high in essential fatty acids, vitamins E and K, and antioxidants, making it ideal for deeply nourishing the skin and supporting barrier health.

When developing this product, we wanted an oil that was suitable for all skin types but especially beneficial for those with dry, mature, or menopausal skin, where hydration and barrier support are even more important. Prickly Pear ticks every box: it’s lightweight, non-greasy, and packed with skin-loving nutrients that work to replenish moisture, improve elasticity, and leave skin looking healthy and radiant.

For us, Prickly Pear felt like the right next step because it combines performance and inclusivity, offering a solution that meets the needs of a wide range of our customers while delivering visible results.

This is a new product category for our brand, why did you decide that an Oil was next to join the range, how does it complement our existing range?

This launch marks an exciting new chapter for BEAUTYPRO. While we are best known for our sheet masks and targeted serums, we saw an opportunity to create a product that locks in hydration and enhances the performance of the rest of the range. A facial oil is the natural next step in a routine, helping to seal in all the goodness from serums and treatments, while leaving skin feeling soft, supple, and radiant. By introducing the Prickly Pear Facial Oil, we’re giving our customers a complete ritual, cleanse, treat, mask, hydrate, and now, nourish with oil.
